Minal Chatterjee is also a communications professional catering to fortune 500 companies with her services. “WinningStree” community got lucky to interview her. Here is what she had to say.
1. Who are you and how are you into what you do?
I am a Business Communications professional with varied interests. I started developing the interest in writing 15 years back and soon realised it is my true calling. I was always fascinated by the witty advertisement taglines, carefully chosen words in copywriting, impactful quotes and punchlines. Winning someone’s attention with a catchy statement always blew my mind.
After my graduation in Bachelor Of Computer Application, I decided to pursue my passion and decided to learn the art of communications professionally. That is when I enrolled in a full time post-graduation degree in Communications Management from Pune.
I have honed my writing skills and pursued my passion further by working on various assignments right from the college magazine to websites of Fortune 500 companies
2. Tell us about your journey
My brush with some hard-core professional assignments happened in 2007 when I landed in Mumbai. I worked for several years in many reputed marketing and communications organisations in Mumbai including Hindustan Unilever Limited and have seen the client side of operations from close quarters.
I started my own venture as a Business Communications Writer soon after I gave birth to my son. Since then, I have worked almost every day of my life to set high standards and surpass them, to exceed expectations, to refine my skills, and to build a small but strong portfolio of reputed clients.
3. That WinningStree moment
I have built my business on high delivery standards, mutual trust and strong business ethics. I am elated every time I am trusted with a strategic assignment by some of the most biggest companies in India.
4. Three words you say to yourself when in front of the mirror
I love you.
5. Winning message to other women
Love yourself. Be yourself. But be there for others.
When women support each other, they can move mountains.
6. Difficulties you faced when fulfilling your dreams/aspirations
Scouting & exploring deals as an independent consultant was a challenge. You have to perpetually look for work as you are not on anybody’s permanent payrolls. Convincing clients for trusting me with their core work was an amazing learning experience.
7. What makes you extraordinary?
I am a self-motivated & driven entrepreneur. I believe this is a very important trait in an independent business professional.
I also am a very process oriented person. I have robust processes even for the smallest of the things in my business. I truly believe that businesses built on strong process foundation can be easily scaled up.
8. Your Favorite quote that you believe in…
“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”
