Presenting Naaz Joshi, The First Indian Trans-Sexual Woman To Have Won Miss World Diversity Who believes In Never Ever Giving Up!

Naaz Joshi made India & the entire Indian Trans-Community proud by winning the Title Ms. World Diversity in 2018. Her life was never a bed of roses but full of thorns filled in her path. But with her outstanding grit and powerful determination, she emerged as a winner and became the first Indian Trans-Sexual woman to have won the title. Held in Dubai this event had 22 participants from across the world.

Presenting our first Trans-WinningStree! A crown that Naaz Joshi loves held high up on her head, this beautiful lady is all Josh and a winner of hearts of course!

Tell us about your journey and how did you choose to be what you are today?

My journey as a trans woman has been very difficult, from being an abundant child, a rape victim, and a bar dancer, I faced it all. I am a NIFT graduate plus I am a post-graduate in marketing from a distance learning program from IMT. I also did work as an assistant designer with famous designers Ritu Kumar and Ritu Beri for their labels.

My inspiration to be a model was my late cousin sister supermodel ‘Viveka Babajee’, who always thought that I can be a great model. In 2007 I went with her to Mauritius and participated in miss queen Mauritius and I won it too. Then in 2013, I was being followed by ace photographer Mr. Rishi Taneja as he was doing a biopic on transgender lives. And I became his muse. It was his dream project. But little did I know that this project will make me the celebrity that I am today.

Naaz Joshi won Miss World Diversity in 2017. She won Miss Trans Queen India Classic 2018 and Ms. World Diversity 2018. Not just that she has been a cover model 6 times and a showstopper for more than 25 times by now.

Difficulties Naaz Joshi faced, as a woman, when fulfilling your dreams/aspirations and how did you overcome them?

Major difficulties were

1. Bullying by society

2. No support from family

3. Discrimination because of gender

Today people still laugh at me. I have a small business of beauty pageants and most girls are afraid to join my pageant because they have trans phobia.

Over the years, I have made myself so strong that nothing bothers me, even after several rejections whether it’s in my personal life or professional life, I just stand tall. Unless you fight the war, how shall you win it? And I believe that we must fight our failures and the spirit of never ever giving up keeps me on the go!

Societal Pressure on Women expecting them to behave in one particular manner tends them to leave their careers midway sometimes. Your message to such women who aspire to grow higher but fear of losing things they value!

Do what you feel like. Yes, our society is very judgmental! When a man takes off his shirt on social media he becomes a stud and when a woman wears a bikini, she is considered as a slut. Personally, I have also faced this issue as a few weeks ago I had put up my semi-nude shots but people judged me and slut-shamed me!

Some of my contestants from my beauty contest backed out thinking that they are not in safe hands. I want to ask every reader that where is it written that if a woman flaunts her body, she is a slut? If I had it, I flaunted it.

I had to stop it for the moment, but I promise that very soon India shall witness the hottest photoshoot ever from a Trans Girl. My aim is to be the cover girl of playboy now.

To all the women who want to fulfill their dreams, I just wanna say ” KUCHH TO LOG KAHEINGE LOGON KA KAAM HAI KEHNA!” They didn’t spare Goddess Sita so who are you and me! Just do what your heart says and the heart never lies.

Is it difficult for women to articulate or voice out their will both professionally or personally? How important is it for females to voice out their opinions?

It’s very important for a human being whether male or female and third gender to voice out our opinions. I see my pets too are opinionated. My dogs wouldn’t eat what they don’t like. So, people who do not have the strength to raise their voices against wrong are not humans. In our society girl’s mouth is mostly shut because her parents or husband rule their lives. Most of the rape cases go non-reported because people are worried “LOG KYA KAHEINGE?”

C’mon people, will others come and feed you? No!! Today everyone is so much engrossed in their own lives. It’s a fast-moving life with so much competition, I want to request to parents of every girl, please do not refer to your daughters as ‘PARAYA DHAN’. They are as equal as a child as your boys. Your boy child may leave you once, but a girl child will always be yours forever!

What is feminism according to Naaz Joshi?

Feminism to me is kindness, Its unconditional love towards society, and the underprivileged. It is being lovable, that too unconditionally. Feminism is not just your looks, feminism is also when you realize your responsibilities towards society and country.

Feminism is Maa Kaali when she has to kill evil, feminism is Ma Parvati, who loves and nurtures every child. And also, feminism is taking a stand for yourself and standing up against every wrong thing happening across you.

Your Favorite quote that you believe in which speaks highly about Feminism.

“SUCCESS IS THE SWEETEST REVENGE” – By Vanessa Williams

Many men will come in your life, will put you down and make you feel worth less, slay them with your success girl.

Winning Stree Moment of Naaz Joshi

Definitely when I became the world’s first-ever Trans girl to win a pageant that was made for natural-born women. That is miss world diversity 2018!

Your Thoughts about International Women’s Day and any message you would wish to convey to our Fellow Strees…

International women’s day is one day which reminds women that before they are daughters, sisters, wives, mothers are women. This one day reminds them to stand up for themselves and I wish they all think that each and every day is their day. They must live for themselves before they live for someone else. Be the girl you always wanted to be. Make your dreams come true, you are not committing a crime. Why do you need the approval of your family and husband to make important decisions in your career? Pls stand up for yourself and stand up for your community.
