We got lucky to catch this extremely talented and brilliant psychologist for a chat and here’s what she had to say.

Who are you and how are you into what you do?

I am a Psychologist, Family-Therapist, Graphologist, Parenting coach & Counselor for women and children. I am not sure how I am in my work, but I know am unconditional, assertive, and an optimist in my field. And I sincerely believe there is hope and health for everyone in this world.

Tell us about your journey as a Psychologist & Family Therapist…

From a 20-year-old who got married young to being a complete housewife for 12 years, I undertook this journey thanks to my husband exactly 5 years ago. The most beautiful part of it is, I haven’t looked back.

What is Happiness Quotient for you?

During my initial stint at the hospital, I realized everyone was worried about their intelligence, physical health, good looks, brand-conscious awareness absolutely everything related to success and achievement. The world thinks happiness will be achieved when you achieve the things mentioned above but actually, happiness is what we have to worry about. If I can be happy in life, I can be anything. Hence look out for the HQ instead of IQ or any other Quotient.

Psychologist Karishma Mehra - Winning Stree

What are the pros and cons of being a Psychologist?

There are many pros of being a psychologist, your understanding and compassion factor goes up, your view of life and people are impacted in a big way but there are cons too. Cons of being judged, of always being on the radar of people around you.

And your children and family also sometimes are not spared.

What are the most commonly faced problems that you have to deal with in regards to your counseling sessions as a behavioral therapist?

There are many common issues faced by women and children. Children feel they are not listened to.and feel unheard, whereas parents are always riding their aspirations on their child and expecting a faster way to deal with children.

Women of course have domestic violence, disrespect, and acceptance issues with self and spouse too.

Difficulties you faced while fulfilling your dreams or aspirations?

There were many hurdles but I genuinely feel God has been extremely kind to me. I was pregnant both the times I was studying. We are also a big joint family, so, dealing with so many people and still doing that little bit for myself was a challenge.

Also prioritizing was a task and I was pretty bad at it

How do you manage time between work and life especially with the lockdown?

So indeed, with the lockdown, it is difficult to balance the two. Sometimes work takes priority and otherwise, it’s the family. Juggling between the two I spend my days and indeed love it. Coz I’m passionate about my kids and work as much and just love what I do. And when you love what you do, don’t think you sit to think, if you are juggling or struggling.

That WinningStree Moment…

One moment when I distinctly remember is when my children heard one of my live videos and said wow Mumma, we are so proud of you. It just felt like the universe was acknowledging my work and it was a moment full of gratitude.

Three words you say to yourself while in front of the mirror!

More than 3 actually…

I am who I am…

 And I love being who I am…

I won’t change it for anything in the world!

What makes you extraordinary as a Millennial Woman?

The fact that I think I believe in myself and I know I have compassion and love for all around me makes me feel special. A few years back I never imagined this side of me and I think personally I have grown as a person.

My faith and my will make me a go-getter and that’s extremely extraordinary for me.

Winning Message to Other Strees …

Life happens to those who stand their ground. Faith and Hope are 2 virtues that each one of us must imbibe and hold on to. Each one of us is special. I am and so are you. Feel it!

Specify a few success stories? When should a person approach you for help?

Domestic violence, behavioral issues, family discord, parenting woes, having trouble with children, and a relationship with them. These are some of the areas I look into and for children or women am a message or call away.

Success for me is to make you the happiest version of yourself. Success for me is when I can be the catalyst and help bridge the gap in relationships between parents/partners/families to sort out their family discord. To reconnect and rekindle the love for themselves and in them is my need and passion.

Are you passionate about something apart from your regular job too?

I am extremely passionate about my children and for me, if I’m not working, I’m a homely person, enjoying with my family and probably with a book in a corner.
